Arroyo de la Miel on the Costa del Sol

Arroyo de la Miel ("Stream of Honey") is located northeast of Benalmádena. Originally a separate village, it's considered an area within the Municipality of Benalmádena which is itself within the autonomous community (comunidad autónoma) of Andalucía (Spain is comprised of 17 autonomous communities). The city was founded to house the workers of a local paper factory created by Felix Solesio in the late 18th century. The original factory can still be seen in the Plaza de España. Today, the city is quite residential, and towering apartment blocks abound. 

The main tourist attractions are Tivoli World amusement park, and the cable cars (telefericos) which take visitors to the summit of Mount Calamorro. At an elevation of 769 metres, the view from the summit includes the Sierra Nevada, Gibraltar and on clear days, the Moroccan coastline. At the top, the Garden of the Eagles (Jardin de las Aguilas), a raptor reserve, offers falconry shows and teaches visitors about how the magnificent birds are rescued and raised.

Every Wednesday the local market is open at Tivoli World. On Sundays (except in the summer), a car boot sale takes place there.
